I have found that the Forum on the moodle site has been a lively discussion of the topics that are discussed in the first half of the course. I am suggesting that the six of us use this blog to share our ideas for the report itself. That is we post what we propose to do for the report and get feedback from each other on our reports.
Then when we write our reflections we can draw on this blog and the class discussion forum. Other suggestions welcome.
Jo's first ideas for Assessment Task 1:
Four forms of diversity.
I am going to go broad here and use the categories defined by ACARA:
- Students with disability
- Gifted & Talented students
- Students for whom English is an additional language or dialect.
They define three catagories so I will break category 1 into Physical and Intellectual disabilities. So my four forms of diversity will be:
- Students with physical disability
- Students with intellectual disability
- Gifted & Talented students
- Students for whom English is an additional language or dialect.
Hi Jo
ReplyDeleteI remember you asked him this question during Monday Tut, correct me if I am wrong, his answer was it can be broad or specific, so it is up to us.
For assignment purpose, I personally would write about the specific. From suggestion in assignment 1 description " learning difficulties, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, physical impairment, gifted and Autism." They are more specific to me than broad.
Also you are right about covering four of them in 2000 words, in fact we only have less than 2000 words since we need introduction and conclusion. That leave us around 250-300 words for each category.
I probably pick two broad main categories ( physical disability and student whom English is an additional language), then talk about two specific diversities in each of those two main categories.
Good luck with the assignment Jo.

Thanks Tina that is good advice.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteJo, maybe do two of each as Tina suggested ?
I'm looking at :
1. Speech
2. Deaf
3. physical disability (wheelchair or arm missing ? along those lines)
4. Culture (did look into Indigenous, however by the sounds of it so is everyone else)
As Tina points out and as we all know, they will be short and to the point with only 300 words for each.
